Vice President, Strategy
Andrew J. Hertneky is the Vice President of Strategy for Edison International. He is responsible for developing strategy for the utility Southern California Edison (SCE) and the unregulated Edison Mission Group (EMG).
Prior to his current role, Hertneky served as EMG vice president of Risk Management where he was responsible for managing EMG trading, credit, market, and operational risk. He was also vice president of Origination/Marketing where he was responsible for all marketing and structured-deal origination.
Before joining EME in 2002, Hertneky was an associate principal with McKinsey & Company, serving a variety of Fortune 500 companies and international clients on utility and energy issues, focusing on strategy, risk management, and energy trading/marketing.
Prior to McKinsey, Hertneky spent 15 years in the energy industry and held senior-level positions including VP of Structured Trading, responsible for financial deal structuring and negotiating energy deals, and Head of Electricity Trading /Marketing for Consolidated Natural Gas. At Philadelphia Electric (now part of Exelon) he was Head of electricity trading and marketing, director of transmission planning, and head of the nuclear systems development group.
Hertneky also spent six years in engineering and quality control positions at six nuclear power plants for Stone and Webster Engineering and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Hertneky attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and graduated with highest honors from Vanderbilt University with an MBA.
