Barbara J. Parsky is senior vice president of Corporate Communications for Edison International, parent company of Southern California Edison, one of the nation’s largest electric utilities, and Edison Mission Group, a competitive power generation business and parent company to Edison Mission Energy and Edison Capital.
Parsky joined Edison in 2002 as vice president of Corporate Communications. Prior to her current role, Parsky served as senior vice president of Corporate Communications for both Edison International and Southern California Edison.
Parsky has overall responsibility for formulating the company's communications strategies and issues management, brand reputation; and advertising for the corporation. In addition, she oversees all the company’s philanthropic activities. Parsky is the chair of Edison International's Corporate Philanthropy Committee, which is responsible for the strategic review and approval of major corporate contributions.
Before joining Edison International, Parsky had her own consulting business where she counseled chairmen and chief executive officers on a variety of industry issues, brand reputation, crisis programs and opinion leadership campaigns.
Previously, Parsky was a partner of Porter Novelli, a worldwide public relations agency, and general manager of its Los Angeles office. In addition, she had a long professional association with the General Electric Company (GE). Throughout her 20-year career there, she held several management positions in marketing and strategic communications. As GE's manager of corporate advertising, she directed the brand image program for the "We Bring Good Things to Life" national advertising, public relations and promotion programs. She was also responsible for GE media buying and the company's brand image research program.
Parsky received her bachelor's degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.
